1. This is a take home test, which means that you write it from home. You have one week to
complete this test (From 4 May 2021 at 5:10 pm – 11 May 2021 at 5:10 pm). Please note
that after the deadline you will not be able to submit your test

3. Question 1 should be answered on the dim paper (excel/written)
4. Question 2 – Question 4 should be in essay format and when typing, use Arial, 12 font,
single spacing and 2cm margins.
5. Ensure that you have adequate data to upload your completed assessment on blackboard.

QUESTION 2 (15 MARKS)

Employer as to who is the successful contractor to be appointed for the project. As the appointed
quantity surveyors for a multi-million rand office block development, discuss how you administer the examination of the priced Bills of Quantities submitted by the successful contractor.
QUESTION 3 (30 MARKS)
You are working as quantity surveyor on a project and you realise when preparing the price determination documents that not all the drawings, details and specifications are available. Your
client wants you to prepare determination document so the project can be advertised as this is an
urgent project. What allowances will you allow for, how do they work and how will these allowances affect the payment certificate and final project value.
QUESTION 4 (25 MARKS)
You are appointed as a QS in a project, can you discuss the methods you would put in place for
the preparation and preplanning for measuring and how would you ensure the accuracy of your
price determination document.
