After going through the three case studies, make a self-explanatory list of issues which may arise as part of a tendering
process as discussed in class.
Solution
The main issues that can arise from tendering include;
1. The problem of early cost estimates produced without first securing a true understanding of project buildability
and programming.
2. Poor quality tender documents that cannot provide clear and consistent project information regardless of the
standards followed. These become the source of inaccurate estimates, claims and disputes on contracts.
Resulting in significant amount of tender queries, amendments and addenda.
3. The process of clarification on uncertainties in regard to the tender documents consumes time for careful
preparation of tender documents by tenderers.
4. Court orders can be issued by tenderers for misleading and deceptive conduct by the clients.
5. Incompetent selection criteria that can lead to increased cost and duration of project in the future
