Bigfoot Spotting!
An area and perimeter performance task
Bigfoot has recently been spotted near our town. A team of
researchers are looking for helpers in determining the area of
his foot print. They know our class is studying area and are
counting on you to help!
In order to help the researchers, you must first prove you are
an AREA and PERIMTER EXPERT by solving the problems
below.
1. Trace your foot on graph paper.
2. Find the area in square centimeters of your foot (Don’t
forget to count half squares too).
3. Lay a piece of string around the perimeter of your
footprint and then measure the string using a meter
stick.
4. Label the perimeter of your footprint somewhere on your
graph paper.
5. Glue down the string around the perimeter of your foot.
If you succeed in doing the above steps, you will be hired to
find the area and perimeter of Bigfoot’s footprint! Turn in all
work to your teacher for approval.
