The 7th Art: Cinema
The art is numbered from 1 to 11. But today I am here to talk about the
seventh one that is the cinema.Cinema is the art of reproducing images that cause
impression of movement. Cinematographic works better known as films are
produced by recording images of the world with cameras, by its creation using
techniques of animation or visual effects. Cinema exists thanks to the invention of
the Brothers Lumière at the end of century XIX.
The event by the brothers to reproduce its project caused commotion in the
few and few present, the news spread, and in a short time this artistic
achievement would conquer the world and give birth to a multibillion-dollar
industry. The film was L'Arrivée d'un Train à La Ciotat.
With great innovations like the 3D that took passage through the screens in 1922
with the movie "The Power of Love" considered the first 3D movie to display this movie was
used 2 projectors to create depth unfortunately the original 3D movie is lost. .
1920s, where, in 1927, "The Jazz Singer" was produced, the first film spoken in the history
of cinema. The film was produced by Warner Bros, with the Vitaphone sound system. Al
Jolson, famous jazz singer of the time, sings several songs in the film.
The story is based on a large Broadway play of 1925.Let's now jump to the 1930s, more
precisely in 1935, with "Becky Sharp", or if you prefer, "Vanity and Beauty" which is an
American film of the drama genre, directed by Rouben Mamoulian and starring Miriam
Hopkins and Frances Dee. This was the most anticipated movie of the year all over
Hollywood, as it was the first full-length feature in Technicolor three-color (RGB).
There are two devices of extreme importance for the media: radio and TV. However, these
industries, after starting to develop, create rivalry with the cinema and only after a few years
make partnerships.
When the radio emerged it was considered an enemy by Hollywood executives, so much so
that studios banned their contracted stars from working on radio, fearing that their radio
appearances would slow down the box office. In 1940, when the public complained about
the studios' attitude defacing their image, Hollywood made peace with the radio.
From the invention of these technological means, things evolved more and more until the
arrival of the computer, and in 1995, the first film made entirely in this type of machine
was created: Toy Story. In the cinema of the 1990s, "pop" marries the "classic" on the
screen. The word of order is diversity. The Silence of the Innocents enters History by winning
the top five Oscars; Schindler's List thrills and shocks crowds of people around the world;
Forrest Gump presents a definitive star, Tom Hanks, and Disney was part of the evolution
of cinema with several classics we know as: Cinderella, Hercules, Pocahontas and much
more.
The year 2000 was almost a summary of what happened and a preview of what was to
come. He had a little bit of everything in the top ten box office. Children's film: The Grinch;
Tom Hanks: The Castaway; sequence: Mission Impossible 2; biography: Gladiator; romantic
comedy: What Women Like; catastrophe: Sea in Fury; comedy: Entering a Cold; X-Men,
parody besteirol: Everyone in Panic and Terror: Revelation.
In 2001, among the top 10 box office, only Pearl Harbor is not part of a franchise and was
not made for children's audiences. Among the releases of the year were the first episodes
of series of films that would last more than ten years in the cinema or that, faithful to the
origin, did not worry much with the structure of beginning, middle and end, since the
following film would solve the problems . Of course Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, first and second largest collection,
respectively.
Nowadays, the public is receiving on the big screen much more technological proposals with
sound effects, special effects,many aniamtions and the 4D,that is such na techinological
example of the evolution of the cinema.The films are evolving much more with genres of
action, musical and even animation.
Some movies that are hits like: Avengers, Frozen, It, The Greatest Show and etc
