1- The main challenges the investigators faced were the constant denial of permission by
Mexican authorities to collect evidence. For example when the Mexican officials would
not allow the second body founded to be analyzed and identified at the time they
founded. This forensic team was also not allowed to enter the residence where SA
Camarena and Captain Zavala were being held until a Mexican forensic unit reviewed
everything first, making it even more difficult for them to find evidence since everything
had been previously evaluated and collected. Also when they found the car’s license
plate on the tennis court, something that the Mexican forensics team had not seen, the
Mexican authorities did not allow them to carry out any further investigation related to
this discovery.
2- The FBI forensic team was allowed to cut small known samples from clothing, cordage,
and burial sheet, and obtain hair samples from both bodies. They also removed soil
examples from the bodies and clothing. This evidence was then compared to the
