GROUP TREATMENT SESSION: Use this as a guide to help you write your sessions ELEMENTS OF A GROUPTREATMENT SESSION ELEMENT COMMENTS Title of Session Identify the name of the session Setting Describe where it will take place (gym, kitchen, regular meeting room) Contraindications* Include any safety precautions which need to be taken in consideration Purpose of group Identify the purpose of the activity (ex to improve social participation skills, ability to participate in IADLs etc.) Goals Identify the goals of the group Content and methods Includes the steps needed to conduct the group along with a time frame for each step Supplies Includes all the materials required for the activity References* Include the sources used for the activity (web link . books etc.) *These elements are rarely included in professional protocols but are important for students, interns, and novice therapists to learn the process of writing group protocols.
