In recent years, humans have realised that our present choices and actions have significant long-term impacts on future generations. Sustainable practices seek to ensure that we make ethical choices that can bring about a safe and livable future for humanity. Though many technologies and processes have been introduced in pursuit of this goal, adoption of these technologies remains lacking. Sustainable environmental practices can be incorporated into various aspects of human society: Home & Living Recreation Farming & Agriculture Manufacturing Etc. More and more youths have been playing significant roles in spearheading the development of sustainable solutions and practices. As ideators, we would like you to suggest solutions that would enable people to adopt more sustainable practices. WORK How can we create conditions in our respective workplaces for better work-life harmony? In its latest 2021 study, a tech company, Kisi, ranked Singapore as the 2nd most overworked city in the world. Even with work-from-home being the norm due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many employees still seem unable to find a healthy work-life balance. There is an inherent struggle created when separating work from rest in the house - especially in an environment that sees emails being sent after office hours and on weekends. Many who have recognised this imbalance are pushing for better work-life harmony in Singapore. Some companies have opted to trial 4-day work weeks; others are offering greater incentives and welfare for its employees. As university students, most of you are on the last leg of your educational journey before fully committing to your careers. As ideators, we would like you to suggest solutions that would enable employers and employees to create better work-life harmony. PLAY How might we create opportunities that can encourage stronger bonds between youth and seniors? As we progress towards the year 2022, Singapore’s greying population will continue to grow. By 2030, every one in four Singaporeans will be aged 65 or above. This reality calls for significant efforts to assist the elderly in ageing gracefully. One key to successful ageing is to create meaningful connections and experiences. Many organisations propose involving youths in playing a significant role in their ageing? Both youths and the elderly have much to gain from inter-generational relations. Ageing is definitely a journey better shared. As ideators, we would like you to suggest solutions that would create opportunities to encourage stronger bonds between youth and seniors in our community.
