1) Two balls are thrown, one in the upward direction, the other downward, with identical 10 [mi/h]
speeds. Which ball, if any, will hit the ground while moving faster? (Ignore the effects of air
friction!)
2) A ball is thrown in the upward direction will stop momentarily before coming back down. Is the
ball accelerated at the moment it stops?
3) Which ball accelerates more rapidly, the one that is dropped or the other one thrown down with
an initial speed of 30 [mi/h]?
4) Space Shuttles go from zero to 17,500 [mi/h] within 8 minutes while traveling 180 [mi] during a
launch. Given the fact that no human pilots the shuttle during the launch, the motion itself needs
to be predictable. How does NASA make motion predictable?
5) John Stapp experiment proves that it is possible to survive up to 20 - 25 [g] for a few seconds.
Princess Diana's car experienced roughly about 22 [g] during the crash that claimed her life.
Given the fact that the acceleration of the car during crash was survivable, why then did she die?
