Please answer the writing prompt using critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity. Imagine that you have been asked to work with a child who is not able to see. Your task is to help the child understand and differentiate between the primary colors. In one paragraph please describe how you would accomplish this task. 4 C's Writing Prompt Trying to explain and teach the primary colors to a blind child is something I have never thought of doing. However, I’m sure this is quite the daunting task for a blind person to understand, as well as a necessary thing for them to grasp as they journey through life. I think I would attack this challenge in two ways. The first would be to attempt to tie the colors to emotions. Everyone feels emotion and can relate many things to their emotions. For example red could be tied to the emotion of anger, or blue to sadness and yellow to contentment. The second way I would attempt to teach the primary colors to a blind child would be to attempt to tie the colors to objects or things they already have an understanding of. This attempt would be conditional according to what they already understand. For instance if the child understands water and the ocean then I would try to relate the color blue to those things. I’m sure there are other methods of teaching a blind child the primary colors. These are just two that I think might work. Just as any teacher would know you have to modify and be flexible as you teach, so I’m sure that if I actually tried these out on a blind child I would make changes to fit that child's needs.
