My family and I are have gone through a few phases where money has
been a problem. But thankfully there hasn’t been any extreme situations. I
wouldn’t describe my family poor but we aren’t wealthy either. We are what
people call the middle class. We live in a comfortable house and we are able to
do the normal essentials like shopping, eating out, having nice furniture and
clothing, and also have nice products. But since my mom is a single mother of
two and also doesn’t get paid any child support, she does struggle most of the
time. Right now she has about three jobs. She doesn’t have to though, we can
totally live off of her primary job, but she choose to work extra so that I can get
a good education and exceptional goods. Thankfully I am a freshman taking
dual credit classes and my family doesn’t have to pay for it.
While in high school I’ve been interested into many new sports and also
different clubs. I am involved with sports such as JV basketball, golf, and high
school track. Different clubs I am in are FFA, The Spanish club, and FCA. All of
these different kinds of clubs benefit myself into different reasons for my
future. They can help me with social skill or they can either help with my
leadership skills like in FFA. Other community events I do is community service
like helping at the local library or even helping around the school district. Some
achievement I have accomplished are being an Honor Roll Student and also
being committed to all my classes including this one. Another achievement is
the determination that I have with my teammates. I have gotten really close to
them and thankfully to them they motivate me every day.
My main goal is to try to achieve a bachelor’s degree in college. Hopefully
I will graduate high school ready with my Associates degree and have an easier
way to obtain my desired career. In my high school we have a program where I
can get my cosmetology license during school. I feel like this will be really good
for me so that it can be my side job while I finish the rest of my college after
high school and also since I am very good in this kind of industry. Right now I
don’t know what career I want to preform but as for right now I want to go for
psychology or anything mentally. I think the brain is a very fascinating part of
your body and I want to learn more about how it works and the mental state.
Since a young age I have been an Honor Roll Student even through all
the different circumstances I have gone through I still manage time for all my

grades to be passing. Now as I look back I feel very thankful because of the
state I’ve been living with at home. Most people have pushed away school
because of problems a home or with their parents. But my mother has never
let anything other than school distract me from what my career can be. Since
she never was encouraged to pursue her dreams she has never stopped me
from letting my school career down. My mom has pushed me very hard and I
believe I have matured faster than most people and that I am responsible. My
goal is to be one of the first in my family to graduate college and have a
successful career so that I can show others to push through yourself and to
never give up even through harsh times.
