Instructions
1. Differentiate all the positions on Nature vs Nurture debate by defining each in your own word.
2. Think of 3 activities you are good at. Use the table shown in the 3rd page of
SW106_2021_HANDOUT_1 as reference to this activity.
 First column: Things you are good at.
 Second column: To what extent are the behaviors, qualities and identities associated with this
activity the product of your genes or your environment?
 Third column: How this might help you as a social worker?
1. In this discussion, nature is frequently characterized as genetic or hormone-based behaviors, traits, or
attitudes. We're talking about our genetic make-up, which we get from our parents. While
environment, culture, and experience are the most popular definitions of nurture. Our growth and
behavior are influenced by environmental influences in nurture.

Communication
Motivating People
To what extent are the behaviors, qualities
and identities associated with this activity
the product of your genes or your
environment?
My communication abilities, I suppose, are
a result of my DNA. Because I can predict my
Auntie's communication abilities based on
mine. She was formerly employed as a
marketing
manager.
Completeness,
conciseness, and clarity characterize her
speech.
My environment, I believe, have influenced
my ability to motivate others. Friends who
are daring, active, encouraging, and
contemplative are among my circle.
How this might help you as a social
worker?
Communication
is
essential
in
professional interactions and, as a result,
is at the heart of excellent social work
practice. People need effective
communication to convey their requests
and opinions about their assistance and
care. It also educates people.
Motivation builds determination to
achieve something. Motivating people
can lead to the achievement of
organizational goals and can build a
friendly relationship.
Organizing Things
I believe my ability to organize things is
inherited from my parents. My mother has
always been excellent at time management
in all areas of her life. My mother used to
create objectives and pay close attention to
all the details.
You will save time looking for things and
have more time to work on
vital activities if you stay organized. As a
social worker, getting organized can help
you boost your productivity, and reduce
your risks and stress in your work.
