Guidelines for writing a pre-laboratory discussion
1. Indicates how the practical investigation is introduced (includes the teachers
actions and media used).
2. Connects the theoretical facts discussed in previous lessons by making links
to the practical investigation.
3. States the purpose of the investigation and/or aim of the practical
investigation.

4. Provides general instruction about how the practical investigation will be

5. Provides an explanation to learners on how to use certain apparatus and
materials related to the practical investigation.
6. Briefly explains the method to the learners.
7. Explains specific process skills needed in the practical. (calculations, tables
graphs etc.)
6. Indicates how issues of safety related to the practical investigation are
discussed and demonstrated (includes the teacher’s actions and the media
used).
