This soil was then ploughed and seeded. What people did during Peret? This was the busiest season for the people as they needed to maintain the land and all work was done by hands or animals. 3. Shemu: The Harvest Season Months of Shemu The Harvest Season. March – June What happened during Shemu? The fully grown crops had to be cut down or harvested before the Nile floods again. What people did during Shemu? The farmers spent their time in cutting and gathering grains, sending the share to Pharaoh as a tax and repair the canals ready for the next season.
