And lastly, for the sixth week, we discussed “Professional Ethics, and Work and Wealth,” we’ve done part two of our final project, which is the Audio-Visual Presentation. We also have done an assignment and the Final Examination. The six weeks given to us may be short, but we still managed to finish the modules in our canvas, and that is because of the consistency of our professor, Ms. Arceli Salo. New Learning Upon finishing the six modules for six weeks, I’ve learned a lot of things that I can use not only in the world of information technology but also in my future jobs and my everyday life. From module one, my knowledge has expanded about how our technology improves through the years. Though I have a background in the history of computers and our technology from our ICT and Computer programming subject, my knowledge has further widened after finishing this module one. From module two, I’ve learned about the different ethical theories that are used to evaluate and analyze a given scenario. From module three, I’ve learned about the two types of censorship, which are direct censorship, and selfcensorship. My knowledge about intellectual property and copyright has widened. From module four, I’ve learned about data privacy and my rights regarding my personal information and data, which I can use to protect my personal information online from online thieves and offline from those people who have a grudge towards me. From module five, I’ve learned how a software error might cause troubles, such as the issue about Therac 25, which had lead 3 out of 6 patients to death due to the software error that caused the patients to have overdosed. From module six, I’ve learned about professional ethics. I’ve learned about the five fundamental principles (Integrity, Objectivity, Confidentiality, Due care, and Professional behavior) to practice whenever there is an ethical dilemma, which I can use for my future professions. Overall, for the six weeks of discussion, I’ve learned lots of things that are necessary for my everyday life and future jobs. Personal Reaction / Reflection As we finished this online course, I realized that technology and the online world are much broader than I’ve thought. Taking up this online course helped me to further understand the things that were thought to us from our ICT subject back in high school. This also helped me to be aware of what is happening in the world of technology and the online world. I’ve learned a lot from this online course and our professor, Ms. Salo. I’ve learned a lot from her personal experience that she shared during the online conferences, which I can use to be a better and more disciplined person in using technology and being one of the millions and billions of people in the online world. As a reflection, I will apply the things I learned from this course, especially the fundamental principles we should practice whenever there is an ethical dilemma. I will always keep in mind my rights to my personal information and data to protect my data from other people. The six weeks given to us to take up this online course may be short, but I have learned a lot from this subject and our professor Ms. Salo. It was all thanks to Ms. Salo for being consistent and calm in facilitating this online course.
