Use budget sheets to set up and maintain Joyah’s budget. Then, answer the question to identify her budget
position.
Her planned income and expenses as follows:
Joyah works part-time at a greeting card company and part-time at a record store. The net monthly income
from her first job is RM600. The net monthly income from her second job is $800.
Her planned fixed monthly expenses include:
 RM200 for rent (she shares an apartment with two friends)
 RM175 for motorcycle payment
 RM220 for life insurance
Her planned flexible expenses include:
 RM100 (to save for post-secondary education)
 RM150 for food
 RM40 for gas and oil.
 RM50 for clothes
 RM60 for entertainment
 RM30 for personal and household items
How her month actually went as follows:
1. What she made :
 Joyah made RM45 in overtime pay this month as a record store.
2. What her fixed expenses actually were :
 Rent went up to $225, starting this month
 Her monthly motorcycle payment was RM175.
 Her monthly life insurance premium, as of this month, went up to RM295
3. What her flexible expenses actually were
 RM190 for food (she had a dinner party for which she hadn’t budgeted)
 RM60 for gas and oil (her motorcycle needed an oil change)
 RM34 for phone top up.
 RM220 for motorcycle repairs
 RM80 for a new pair of running shoes
 RM70 for entertainment
 RM60 for personal items
 RM36 for a birthday present for her mother
4. Unforeseen events
 Joyah got two Motor GP tickets in one week. The total cost of both tickets is RM230.
