ACADEMIC STRESS AND COPING STRATEGIES AMONG STUDENTS OF JUAN F. TRIVIÑO MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL Balcena, Mico B. Cadag, Ashley H. Carillo, Maricar V. Dumaguin, John Paul G. Mirras, Angelica E. March 2019 Abstract This study investigated the academic stress and coping strategies among students of Juan F. Triviño Memorial Highschool. The study comprises of 60 randomly picked students-respondents from all grade levels. This study employed quantitative research method specifically descriptive correlational research design. This study determined the academic stress and coping strategies of students and the significant relationship between the two variables. To address the problems, the researchers used two standardized tests and used to determine the stressors that causes academic stress and the coping strategies of students. Thus, it was found by the present study that the majority of the respondents which is 27(45%) out of 60 students are with sometimes stressful level of academic stress. Moreover, the result shows that noisy classrooms (7.68) tends to cause academic stress on students. It was also found that students tend to have self-comfort (8.5) as the top coping strategy. Additionally, results revealed that majority of the respondents (63.33%) used problem-focused strategy in dealing with academic stress. The relationship between academic stress and coping strategies was significantly found at r=0.751 * p=0.042 indicating that there is a high significant relationship between the academic stress and coping strategies of the studentrespondents.
