Welcome to the TLE 9 Beauty Care – Nail Care Services Self- Learning Module
on Safety Precautions and Sanitary Measures For Manicure/Pedicure Services!
This Self-Learning Module was collaboratively designed, developed and
reviewed by educators from the Schools Division Office of Pasig City headed by its
Officer-in-Charge Schools Division Superintendent, Ma. Evalou Concepcion A.
Agustin, in partnership with the City Government of Pasig through its mayor,
Honorable Victor Ma. Regis N. Sotto. The writers utilized the standards set by the K
to 12 Curriculum using the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELC) in
developing this instructional resource.
This learning material hopes to engage the learners in guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Further, this also aims to help learners
acquire the needed 21st century skills especially the 5 Cs, namely: Communication,
Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Character while taking into
consideration their needs and circumstances.

FOR MANICURE/PEDICURE SERVICES
Sanitation is one of the most significant aspects of manicure/pedicure
services. Proper sanitation prevents fungal and bacterial infections from spreading
from one customer to the next, that is why we need to follow safety precautions
and sanitary rules at all times. It helps to ensure safe working conditions while
delivering manicure and pedicure services. e
Safety Precautions to be Observed for Manicure / Pedicure Services are as
follows:
1. Keep all of the containers labeled and covered.
2. Make sure your hands are dry when holding and storing containers.
3. Carefully handle sharp-pointed tools and avoid dropping them.

Dull over the edges of sharp tools with an emery board.
Bevel the sharp edge of the nail with an emery board.
Do not file too deeply into the corners of the nails.
Do not use a sharp-pointed tool to clean the lower part of the free edge of the
nail.

Sanitary Measures to be Followed When Giving Manicure/Pedicure Services

manicure table.
3. Use a disinfectant to clean the manicure table and put everything in place.
4. Clean the upper part of the nail polish bottle with a nail polish remover.
5. Inspect the drawer of the manicure table for order and cleanliness.
6. Wash and dry your hands.
