The success of crop planting is depends on soil preparation. The kind and types of tools and equipment used by the farmer determine the success and failure of his crops. Thorough land preparation is achieved when we use appropriate tools and equipment. What’s In Before we go to the topic we should know first some important terms. Farm implements –accessories pulled by animals or mounted to machineries to make the work easier. Equipment – powered tool machine used in farming. They are used in land preparation and in transporting farm inputs and products. This equipment need a highly skilled operator to use. Preventive maintenance - an activity or operation done to prevent malfunction of tools and equipment and it is done to prolong the useful life of tools and equipment. Repair - to restore to good condition something broken or damaged 2 What’s New In order to perform agricultural operation successfully, one must have a knowledge in using the tools, implements and equipment. Proper care and maintenance of farm tools is necessary in order to prolong the serviceability of the tools. This module deals with the identification of farm tools, implements for agricultural farm operations and develops the value of checking of tools before use to avoid accidents. To start with, I want you to look at the image below then write in your notebook all the farm tools, equipment that you are familiar with and you have observed that is commonly used by the farmers.
