About this Unit This is an eight-lesson romp through the origins of the English language, from the earliest protolanguages up to Middle English. Many of the lessons can be lengthened or shortened as appropriate for your classes. This wide-ranging scheme covers languages and protolanguages, suffixes, prefixes, Greek and Latin roots, Anglo Saxon and Chaucerian English. There is a broad selection of activities ranging from imaginative writing to giving a presentation.
