You have composed your first musical piece! What is Pulse? Pulse is the steady continuous beat in music. It is what you tap your foot to when you listen to a song. The pulse is constant in music. IRL: Your heartbeat is called a pulse as it is a regular continuous pattern. β Perfect Pulse β To take your pulse you need to put your index finger on your wrist. Rhythm is the pattern of long and short sounds. The best way to understand this is to think back to our clapping game. Some of the sounds were longer in duration and some were shorter; this is because the claps had different rhythms. ππππππππππππ π΅ Note Values π΅ Notes are the individual sounds in music and each one has a value or length. The number of beats signifies how long the sound is held for. Today we are looking at the basics! Note Values! π€ Homework π€ Take out your journals!
