ESL / EFL RESOURCES Activity Type Introduction Reading, writing, listening and speaking breakout room activity, group work In this interactive jobs breakout room activity, students match jobs to statements. The students then discuss the statements in groups and collectively agree on one job for each statement. Language Focus Send each student a copy of the worksheet. Procedure Jobs Read through each statement on the worksheet together as a class and explain any language the students are unfamiliar with. Giving opinions Agreeing and disagreeing Aim To match jobs to statements and then to discuss the statements in a group and collectively agree on one job for each statement. Preparation Send each student a copy of the interactive worksheet. Level Intermediate (B1) Working alone, the students then think of a job that describes each statement and write the job in the 'My Answers' column on the worksheet. When the students have finished, divide them into groups of three or four and put them in breakout rooms. The students' task is to find a job they all agree on for each of the statements. Students discuss each statement in turn and give their answers. The students also give their opinions on other students' ideas and come up with a job they all agree on. Students write their agreed-upon job in the column marked 'Our Answers'. Afterwards, have a class feedback session with each group explaining their choices to the class.
