Magnet Clubs and Teams 2021-2022 Inside this newsletter is information on every club and team at Magnet Clubs and Teams are broken into four categories: Academic Enrichment Service & Advocacy Leadership After each information section you can find a page that lists the meeting dates for those that are available. More info will be shared as the semester continues. Academic CLUBS AND OPPORTUNITIES BETTER IN TEAMS FOR THAT PROVIDE STUDENTS ACADEMIC TO PERFORM CLASSES MATH TEAM Math Team "totals up" their knowledge of mathematics to compete against likeminded students from other schools. Always on the move, this team puts their math skills to the test. MAGNET INC. Magnet Inc. helps students practice entrepreneurial skills and supports students developing their own ideas into companies while in high school. Academic CONTINUED SCIENCE TEAM Science Team convenes to balance the equations of life, dive into the ocean's complexities, and analyze our world through wildlife, forestry, soils, and aquatics. From NOSB to Envirothon, our Science Team is always on the move. MODEL UNITED NATIONS Model U.N allows students to experience a simulation of the United Nations General Assembly. Students perform ambassador roles, finding solutions to worldwide problems. BOOK CLUB AND READING BOWL Book Club joins to get lost in the pages of literature. Through their shared love of reading, they hold book discussions and even attend the Reading Bowl competition. Academic CONTINUED SPEECH AND DEBATE Speech and Debate Team uses their reasoning skills to assert their perspectives on a plethora of topics. Never one to back down from arguments, our Debate Team has vast success. R.E.C.S R.E.C.S (robotics, engineering, computer science), stimulates creativity of aspiring engineers so they may build innovative technology and working prototypes. GREEN TEAM Green Team helps spread the love for our environment by promoting sustainability and the love for our Earth. Green Team reminds everyone at Magnet to go green! They bond over the love of photography, and share it with others. MAGNET THE GATHERING Magnet the Gathering invades the media center in the afternoon to compete in strategic board games and card games. Enrichment CONTINUED TEAM LODESTONE ESPORTS ASSOCIATION OF ARTISTS Association of Artists highlights The eSports team builds their love for drawing, acting, their skills and competes and communication. They inspire our students to do more for those around them. BSSU Black STEM Student Union meets to embrace culture and to support the empowerment of black students in not only their daily life but future STEM careers. GAY-STRAIGHT ALLIANCE Gay-Straight Alliance is a social networking organization that promotes diversity and acceptance throughout the school community. They provide a safe space in support of lgbt+, questioning, and straight youth who share a common vision. Service & Advocacy CONTINUED LATIN X LatinX facilitates multicultural community service projects and donation drops. They incorporate Latin culture throughout the school. SME Sophisticated Men of Excellence, "SME", teach our male students to take initiative and have integrity as global leaders. AAPI STEM STUDENT UNION Asian American and Pacific Islanders STEM Student Union meet to embrace culture and support the empowerment of AAPI students. They provide guidance towards being a successful student. Leadership CONTINUED PEER TUTORS PEER FACILITATORS Peer Tutors work with students Peer Facilitators help foster to provide individual and group discussion among students, tutoring sessions and outreach supporting the growth and to students wishing to develop building of student voice. and enhance their study skills. BETA LAMBDA TAU Beta Lamda Tau is an honor society that recognizes the achievements of our freshmen. STUDENT COUNCIL Student Council prides itself on planning a variety of activities that build school spirit, show faculty appreciation, celebrate seasonal events, and promote good citizenship.
