I am eager to learn new things, succeed and will take each opportunity with a free and open mind. Over the past two years I have developed a passion for helping other people achieve their goals. Education 2014 – Present: Sheffield Hallam University – BSC Hons Physical Activity, Sport and Health. My degree covers a wide range of aspects within physical activity from working with young children in schools to older people with multiple health issues. During my time at university we have covered 12 modules, which have included: Foundations of Physical Activity, Sport and Health. Considered the benefits of an active lifestyle, how to interpret the current Physical activity recommendations throughout all ages as well as learning how to use a range of tools to record physical activity effectively. Principles of Programming in Physical activity and Sport. Looked at the key principles of training programmes and then designed safe and effective programmes for improving health and fitness. Used a range of measurement tools and methods to assess health and fitness and developed appropriate strategies and approaches to communicate with clients of all ages and ability. Scientific principles in Physical Activity, Sport and Health. Studied the core scientific principles and theories relevant to design and deliver physical activity and health interventions and programmes. Gained an understanding of how Physical activity can impact people physiologically and psychologically as well as learning the key nutritional aspects that lead to healthier lifestyles. Understanding Physical Activity. Assess the basic sociological understanding of sport, culture and physical activity. Work in a busy restaurant handling cheques and waitressing. Appoint jobs and take care of my team to ensure excellent customer service. January 2014 – June 2014: The Viper Rooms, Sheffield – Floor and Cloakroom attendant Responsible for the cash drawer and other people’s belongings and learnt how to deal sensitively but firmly with drunken individuals throughout my shift. February 2011 – March 2011: The Ubunye Project Volunteered at a primary school in South Africa for 2 weeks which I spent (six months) of a year promoting and fundraising for. Whilst there overcame communication barriers and created a sustainable food garden so that children could have nutritious food all year round. The garden is still going strong to this date. August 2009 – January 2014: Sheffield Wednesday Football Club – Section Manager Managed a busy team of over twenty employees whilst providing excellent customer service. Worked within a team where working well under pressure was vital. Transferable Skills Technical Skills Excellent Microsoft Office knowledge including Excel and Word Strong social media skills after helping boost social media presence for charity High level of communication skills via email and letters after taking enquiries and bookings for the restaurant at work Communication Strong interpersonal skills as a result of interacting with plenty of customers as a waitress in a popular city centre hotel Good presentational skills having being graded on various PowerPoint and poster presentations throughout my degree Strong communication skills due to working in a professional service environment as a waitress and bar tender in a 4star hotel Excellent communication skills due to knowing how to adapt to different groups when delivering physical activity sessions. Some examples are groups of children in South Africa, adults in my university gym and within a professional setting through university. Leadership Organising meetings with fellow course representatives and gathering feedback Took control of the restaurants bookings and ensured understanding throughout the team Managed a team of 20+ people on a regular basis, ensuring motivation throughout shifts Team Work Solid teamwork skills as a result of working within a team based environment since I was 14 years old Played competitive football for several years, integrating into different groups whenever I played for different teams Undertaken group projects in my university course Spent two weeks participation camping with 20 other people I’d never met from all parts of the world. Every day we all prepared dinner and breakfast together. Organisational Skills Excellent time management skills as a result of studying a full-time degree whilst also working part-time. Carry around a planner with me everywhere I go to ensure my life is organised which shows I’m punctual and reliable. I also use this effectively in order to meet university deadlines. Highly flexible when it comes to working evenings, weekends and bank holidays as this is what I am used to. Detail orientated which means I’m able to focus on the small elements of a task to meet a certain criteria. For example, when developing fitness programmes, I like to find out what the clients everyday interests are. This is so I can tailor the programme to them which will hopefully make them enjoy it more and be physically active for longer. Interests Exercise. I feel that regular exercise is the key to a healthy mind. I enjoy rock climbing at the local climbing centre, running outdoors and classes at the gym, especially boot camp style. Living Life. I aim to get the most out of life. I thoroughly enjoy skiing, hiking, climbing, running and football Travelling. Travelled the United States and Canada for 5 weeks in the summer of 2015 visiting over 20 different towns/cities as well as Niagara Falls and The Grand Canyon. Volunteering. In previous years I have spent a couple of weeks in the poor township of Motherwell, South Africa, as a part of the UBUNYE charity where we help local schools build sustainable food gardens in order to improve student health and community morale. Driving. I currently hold a Full UK clean driving licence.
