Exercise 1: Replace the blanks with words from the word bank below.
Australia is a nation of (blank). Throughout the country’s history, people have
left their homelands and crossed the seas to embark upon a future in the

Making Connections with your world
Exercise 3: Answer the following questions in the spaces provided using full
sentences.
1. Is Australia an assimilated society, an integrated society, or both? Give your
reasons why. (3-5 sentences)
2. Make a list of the different cultures that are present in your local area. They
can be based on religion or nationality.
3. Write about a situation where you have experienced discrimination or
prejudice. What happened, where did it happen, and how did it make you feel?
