Add Element from ANSYS Library
Define Material Properties
Define Cross-sectional Area
Main Menu > Preprocessor > Sections > Link
- Click on Add
- Enter Link Section ID as 1
- Enter Link area as 10
- Click on OK
Create Nodes
Create Elements
SOLUTION
Select Analysis Type
Main Menu > Solution > Analysis Type
- Select Static
- Click on OK
Constrain Node 1 in y-direction
Main Menu > Solution > Define Loads > Apply > Structural >
Displacement > On Nodes
- Pick Menu appears; pick node 1; click on OK in the Pick Menu
- Highlight UY; click on OK.
Apply Symmetry Conditions
Main Menu > Solution > Define Loads > Apply > Structural >
Displacement > On Nodes
- Pick Menu appears; pick node 2 and 3; click on OK in the Pick Menu
- Click on UY to remove the highlight and then click on UX to
highlight; click on OK.
Constrain UZ Displacements To Make The Model 2D
Main Menu > Solution > Define Loads > Apply > Structural >
Displacement > On Nodes
- Pick Menu appears; pick node 1, 2 and 3; click on OK in the Pick
Menu
- Click on UX to remove the highlight and then click on UZ to
highlight
- Click on OK.
Apply Force
Start Solution Process
POSTPROCESSOR
Visualize Deformed Configuration
Main Menu > General Postproc > Plot Results
- Click on Deformed Shape
- Select Def + undeformed
- Click on OK
