1. Explain the significance of conducting a legal research.
Legal research is important in the legal industry especially to lawyers, law firms and
law students. Legal research basically involves search on review of statutes, past law
cases or land mark cases pertaining to the issues in question. Every legal case follows
proper regulation and practice. Although it may sound as simple as searching the law
cases in the internet, it actually needed skill to conduct legal research. By doing legal
research, it will give the researcher the principles, understanding and skills
in
applying the law.
Further more, the function of legal research is to find out how previous courts have
acted on certain instances, what was the pattern and how did they come to the
decision. For example, a corporate lawyer may conduct legal research on employment
laws, or federal environmental regulations to understand and determine whether a
proposed new policy would expose the company to liability. Hence, a good legal
research can dispose or or eradicate the possibilities of failure. Lastly, legal research
governs the pertinent issues involving the basic search for a case than can be used as a
consulting case. This is important if one needs to give an overview to their client on

A problem statement must have certain components in order for it to be precise and
well-written. There are few essential components to consider in order to write a good
problem statement. Firstly, the researcher need to state the problem clearly and with
enough contextual detail to establish why it is important. Secondly, to state the
method of solving the problem which often stated as a claim or a working thesis.
Third, to include the purpose, statement of objective and scope of the research. These
element should be brief and precise so that the reader stay focus and does not get lost.

statement or research questions?
In the social sciences, the research problem establishes the means by which
researcher must answer the "So What?" question. This question refers to a
research problem surviving the relevancy test that is the quality of a
measurement procedure that provides repeatability and accuracy. Note that
answering the "So What?" question requires a commitment on your part to not
only show that you have reviewed the literature, but that you have thoroughly
considered the significance of the research problem and its implications applied
to creating new knowledge and understanding.
4. What is the significance of ‘citation’?
Citing or documenting the sources used in research is very important. First, by citing
sources accurately and consistently will help to avoid plagiarism of other people’s
work. This is because by citation, it gives proper credit to the authors of the work or
ideas that we use in our paper. Hence, it is important to put citation in our writing so
that the readers able to cross check information in our work. Besides, a good citation
will make us a better writer. Lastly, by doing citation, it will build our credibility as a
scholar or a student. A good bibliography shows the writer’s credibility in their work.
5. State the difference/s between a quantitative and a qualitative research
method.
To simplify the difference between quantitative and qualitative research method, it
can be conclude that quantitative research deals with numbers and statistics while
qualitative research deals with meanings and words. Both quantitative and qualitative
research methods use different kinds of research questions.
While qualitative research is expressed in words. It is used to understand concepts,
thoughts, human behaviours and experiences. This type of research enables to gather
in-depth insights on topics that are not well understood. Common qualitative methods
include interviews with open-ended questions, observations described in words and
literature reviews that explore concepts and theories.
These two theories use different research methods to collect and analyze data and the
allow the researcher to answer different kinds of research questions. Quantitative
research focuses on testing theories and hypotheses while qualitative focuses on
exploring ideas and formulating a theory or hypotheses. Next, quantitative research
analyzes through numbers and statistical analysis while qualitative analyzed by
categorizing, summarizing and interpreting. Besides, for qualitative research, it
requires many respondents while qualitative research only require few respondents.
6. Explain the significance of literature review.
The literature review provides the background to the study and demonstrates the
significance of the proposed research. Specifically, it is a review and synthesis of
prior research that is related to the problem which the researcher set forth to
investigate. A literature review enable researcher to break the literature into
conceptual categories or themes rather than attempting to describe various groups of
literature reviewed by the researcher.
