Star Wars - The Sequel Trilogy (TFA, TLJ, TRoS) Note: Based off of JJ Abrams/ Rian Johnson’s Star Wars sequel trilogy. The Sequel Star Wars Trilogy is a failed attempt at an opportunity to end Star Wars on a very optimistic and clever note. Directors JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson made a series that once was shining as a beam of hope fall into the hands of the dark. Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver are the two main protagonist/antagonist characters, but unfortunately in all three movies, there is not much buildup of their character overtime. The Star Wars sequel trilogy is about Rey, a scavenger in Jakku who doesn’t know her whereabouts, Finn, a stormtrooper who escaped from the forces of the First Order, Poe Dameron, a pilot, and Kylo Ren, a mysterious force from the dark who has a relation to famous classics Leia Organa and Han Solo. The movie is set 30 years after the events of the “Return of the Jedi”, detailing the trials and tribulations that each character goes through. This trilogy is intended for audiences of ages 13 and onwards. Let me get this straight: the sequel trilogy is utter garbage compared to the wonderful films before it and adds in new characters that are as smelly and disgusting as Jabba the Hutt and his fat lumps. Robot Head, another reviewer that frequents his opinions on YouTube, describes Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as “completely wasted potential”. Disney may have nailed the graphics and the scenes, but the setup in the trilogy absolutely reeks. I am quite devastated specifically with the character choice, as this is what sets the sequel trilogy apart from the previous movies in the Star Wars saga. Rey is an overpowered genius who is able to miraculously fumble Kylo Ren (Ben Solo) in their scene at the end of The Force Awakens. It doesn’t make sense for a scavenger in Jakku to be some powerful lightsaber wielder that nails the leader of the First Order. This is preschool level writing, and pathetically drawn character design. In other movies such as Revenge of the Sith, Anakin builds up his ability overtime, and is not instantly brought out into the spotlight as “the chosen one”. It’s as bad as the multitude of love-handles that are seen on Jabba the Hutt, each one acting as a mistake on the director’s part. The scenes in Rian Johnson’s “The Last Jedi” are very obnoxious and sometimes disturbing. I really don’t understand why Luke Skywalker, a person who saved the universe from the Sith, has to be so stubborn and irritated. This completely sets him apart from his prior self: a hero with confidence and ability. Skywalker chucks his father’s lightsaber away like it is useless, which is completely strange when in “A New Hope”, Skywalker uses his father’s lightsaber, and carefully cherishes it. It should be a gift to him, not some throwaway joke like Leia Organa in terms of Jabba the Hutt. I also would like to mention the extremely flamboyant “Disney” lightsaber dynamics. Disney doesn’t have a clue on the use of lightsabers, as they sometimes penetrate people, and they sometimes don’t. They’re almost depicted as sticks with flashy effects, not blades of justice which can penetrate even the toughest of materials. Please don’t get me started on the scene in which Luke Skywalker milks a weird female creature with 10 breasts. This scene is inappropriate and does not have any relation to the rest of the film. Why does Luke need to milk this creature, which seems to be alone on the island? Oh, I suppose it’s so he can drink it all up like a bloody weirdo. Don’t spit it in our faces, Disney, we already know the facts (in which Star Wars is a very culturally diverse place, in a galaxy far far away…) I’m going to diverge a bit from my original plan. Ben Solo is a very unprofessional and weak human being, with all of his anger and vengeance against warriors of the light. I’m sorry Rian Johnson, but you were the reason things came out as they are. Firstly, WHY would you break Kylo Ren’s helmet? I'm sick of the yelling and screaming, and I’m disturbed by Solo’s consistent anger. Screaming and breaking things seems to be an excuse for every one of the characters, not even solely Ben Solo. In one scene, Rey is an annoying piece of Jawa poo which shouts and screams to get her way. Oh boohoo, Rey, you already are overpowered and are miraculously lucky with your extreme actions and ability from having the blood of a Palpatine. Rian Johnson, please sort out your life. Stop making characters that are extremely emotional. Jedi were meant to be beings that were calm and collected, not angry vermin who bash and clash their lightsabers, like Jabba’s quickly forgotten henchmen. I’m going to finish this off with a bang. The Rise of Skywalker…was an unfortunate end to all that WAS good. I am just barely satisfied with FINALLY figuring out the backstory of Rey. Her being a descendant of Palpatine was completely shocking… …however, why bring back something that’s been long gone? The end of Palpatine was meant to resemble the end of the Sith…but…Disney brings him back for one movie? To close a plot hole that makes even more holes in the story? I can’t believe the audacity of JJ Abrams…bringing back Palpatine, and…repairing Kylo Ren’s helmet? There are so many things in this movie that do not make sense. It is almost as if JJ Abrams is doubting Rian Johnson’s efforts on his own movie, “The Last Jedi”. There is some buildup seen in “The Last Jedi” but some of it is lost in the proceeding movie, such as the buildup of Kylo Ren losing his helmet...and him repairing it again?...And Palpatine being dead but is miraculously resurrected again? Here, give a bone to the monster in the basement below — congratulations on making some major details beforehand completely pointless, JJ Abrams! Also…the movie is meant to be called, “The Rise of Skywalker”. Ben Solo, the last person with Skywalker blood, dies in the hands of Emperor Palpatine — all the Skywalkers are dead — why have a Palpatine like Rey become a Skywalker? This doesn’t make sense, as personally I would have the buildup of Rey throughout the other movies ultimately lead to her demise and having Ben Solo continue his legacy as being part of the Skywalker family. The Rise of Skywalker, overall, is a massive hunk of junk. It is as bad as the frequent burps that Jabba the Hutt commits to. It ends Star Wars on a very poor note, and is only a scheme by Disney that solely commits to them doubling their already very decent profits. The sequel Star Wars trilogy is a kid’s fanfare show, I’ll give it that, with all the flashy beamy swords, however, it does not live up to the expectations that the other Star Wars trilogies had, such as the buildup of characters overtime, and not making them overpowered the second we encounter them. Key scenes were mainly seen in the previous movies, while all we get in the more recent movies are love scenes and emotional scenes. We also got a very frustrated Luke Skywalker, which is very different to what we typically saw in the original trilogy. The movies sadly make the Star Wars saga fall into a massive pit...not dissimilar to Jabba the Hutt’s monster pit. If you want a story that is actually decent, watch the prequel and original trilogies, but not the Disney money making schematic that has been mentioned the whole time in this review. ...However, there is still hope! The Mandalorian is a pretty decent TV show...I can’t wait to see what is coming next for Star Wars!
