Symptom
You use a scenario that uses READ RFC or TMW RFC, or BACK RFC and
experience authorization problems or plan to create the RFCs.
Solution
This SAP Note is relevant for all systems for which you have created READ RFCs and TMW RFCs. These
are usually the managed systems.
In these systems, you created a user for each RFC (READ user [SM_<SID>],
TMW user [SMTM<SID>]). The authorizations of each user must be adjusted.
However, you can also create a READ RFC
and TMW RFC for SAP Solution Manager itself. In this case, this SAP Note is also relevant for
SAP Solution Manager.
The BACK RFC points to SAP Solution Manager. For this purpose,
a BACK user is created in SAP Solution Manager. This user is used for
all BACK RFCs.
The following roles have already been attached to this SAP Note:
• SAP_SOLMAN_READ
• Relevant for systems up to SAP_BASIS 7.01
• SAP_SOLMAN_READ_702
• Relevant for systems as of SAP_BASIS 7.02
• SAP_SOLMAN_TMW
• Relevant for systems up to SAP_BASIS 7.01
• SAP_SOLMAN_TMW_702
• Relevant for systems as of SAP_BASIS 7.02
• SAP_SOLMAN_BACK
• Relevant for the SAP Solution Manager
This SAP Note differs from SAP Note 1830640 as follows:
1. The authorization object S_TABU_DIS is deactivated in the role SAP_SOLMAN_READ_702. It was
possible to use S_TABU_DIS and a corresponding function module to read large volumes of data. One
of these modules is called RFC_READ_TABLE.
RFC_READ_TABLE is not part of the roles. However, RFC_READ_TABLE also performs a check for
S_TABU_NAM. This authorization object lists the tables from which the system will read data, thus

ensuring a very high level of transparency for the customer.
Consequently, you can now also include the function module RFC_READ_TABLE.
2. The role Z_SOLMAN_READ_702_ADD has been removed. The relevant authorization is now
contained in SAP_SOLMAN_READ_702.
Perform the following steps:
Prerequisite: Before you create a message regarding missing authorizations, check that you have
distributed the latest version of the roles in your systems. For this purpose, refer to the FAQ document: How
to check READ / TMW and BACK roles.
1. Download the required roles from the "Attachments" tab page of this SAP Note.
2. Call PFCG in SAP Solution Manager.
3. Use the upload function (menu path "Role -> Upload") to upload the roles.
4. When you do this, overwrite the SAP standard.
As an alternative to step 5 onwards, a mass update function is available in the work center.
The process is described in the Security Configuration Guide in the chapter "Solution Manager User
Administration (SMUA)". Otherwise, proceed with step 5.
5. Call SOLMAN_SETUP -> Managed System Configuration.
6. Select the system for which you want to update the users.
7. Choose "Configure System".
8. Choose step 3 "Connect Managed System".
9. Switch to change mode.
10. Select the client.
11. For the user type that you want to update, choose the update function.
12. Choose your user option.
13. Enter the user and the password.
14. Choose "Execute" and confirm the dialog box.
The data of the uploaded role are then transferred to the selected system, where the role is updated.
To update authorizations for other users, you do not have to upload the role again. In this case, start with
step 6 or step 10.
If you transport the role and profile, the system may issue a warning during import. The warning says that the
role and the profile do not match.
Although this can happen, it is not critical. The profile has all the necessary authorizations for the relevant
user. You can avoid the warning by viewing the role before the export and regenerating the profile.
