Galagnara, Destiny B. XII- Boyle Mr. Dave Jucom July 11, 2019 Illegal Logging Illegal Logging, as we know, is the extracting and harvesting of timbers in violation of laws. This has become a rampant problem that has been experienced by the whole wide world. The extractions of timbers may be easy to do and are done by some people but the effects made by those actions are hard to come across and are experienced by everyone. Humans, as we are, must recognize our doings for everything we do creates a great impact to the society, and that could be in a negative manner. People do such things due to, perhaps, poverty most especially people from the rural areas. They resort to extraction of trees in order to gain money. Some also do such just because they possess the greed for money. By all of these, I can’t help but ask myself, how do these people sleep at night knowing that by doing such acts, it led to deforestation and left the inhabitants of earth with nothing but consequences? I, personally, am saddened by the fact that despite all the blessings people received such as water to quench our thirst, air for us to breathe, food to satisfy our hunger and a land to live in, all of these are given to us in order to live however, some still have the audacity to destroy God’s creation. People get from illegal logging is not just money, but tragedies as well. The deforestation we experience is one of the main contributors to the climate change. I realized, if people continue to do such, how will we survive? People drown themselves in the floods, people suffer from the lack of food and shelter, people suffer from everything and that’s because of the people as well. Moreover, as times pass by, we must advocate for change as much as we can in order to influence the people to avoid doing such acts. Indeed, change starts with the person himself, but a voice of someone could be a great help to change the hearts of those kinds of people. We must not let our world be dominated by people who are greedy, insensitive, and cruel. The time is running so fast that we even get surprised of the daily changes our world has to experience. We cannot just let bad people rule the world and leave the people who are innocent experience the effects of the bad things they do. All of us, humans, must reflect on how we should be the earth’s care taker and not the destroyer. This world is too precious to be destroyed and we, people, are too precious to be destroyed too. We cannot just let ourselves suffer for a lifetime, we must do something in order to eradicate these problems. In conclusion, this world was not made for people to abuse and exploit. Humans should not take advantage of the resources and instead, be the advantage. Be the one to take care of the resources so that all people can live a wonderful and bountiful life. We are provided by abundance, so we should keep it abundant. It is a win-win situation after all. We should give justice to God’s creation by valuing it with our utmost will. We must value the trees as much as we value ourselves. Let us take a step a little step to save the environment before it’s too late. Galagnara, Destiny B. XII- Boyle Mr. Dave Jucom July 11, 2019
