Pediatric case study development guideline
Your group will be assigned with a neurodevelopmental topic – FASD, ASD,
ADHD (2 groups). With your group members create the case study on your given NDD.
Be creative! It can include (but not limited to) patient’s history of present symptoms,
relevant family history, lab values, social aspects etc. The client, for example, might
present with different symptoms. For example, ongoing cough or fracture.
The case study you develop should provide enough detail and specificity that a
peer would be able to read it and determine the neurodevelopmental disorder being
explored. Make sure to include information that addresses what your NDD is. Include
information about how it affects the child and their family.
After creating the case study develop analysis of the assigned NDD. Provide
definition, characteristics, its affect on a child and families, statistical data, and possible
interventions. Let’s apply what we learned during the class.
Find and attach supporting documents (scholarly articles, datasheet, pamphlet
etc.) that would guide your interventions and provide client/professional education about
the Neurodevelopmental disorder.
Please ensure your group’s case study has been submitted into the assignment
submission folder on the BCIT Learning Hub prior to Class Two to receive full marks.
This assignment is worth 15% of your total course grade.
In this online assignment, you will have an opportunity to develop a case study with your assigned
group. This assignment has 3 parts with both Group and Individual submissions. Please review all 3
parts and note the due dates associated with each part.
Part 1
In your assigned groups, develop a case study. The case study should provide enough detail and
specificity that a peer would be able to read it and determine the Neurodevelopment Disorder (NDD)
being explored. Make sure to include information that addresses what your NDD is? How does the NDD
affect the child and their family? (Follow the Rubric)
***Please Note: if you choose to write a case study based off a clinical experience,
ensure anonymity***
Please type the case study and submit on the Learning hub under PEDs Case Study Group A
by Thursday 1900 hrs

Part 2
Individually, read all the case studies posted and pose 1 question for another group regarding
their scenario. Please choose a scenario with a neurodevelopment disorder that you did not
create a case study for. Pose a question by Friday 2330.
***Review how many questions were posted already for the group. Post 5-6 questions per group only.
If the group you would like to ask a question already has 5 questions posted, consider choosing
another group. Marks will be deducted for this matter***
Part 3
Review the questions that your classmates posed on your case study and answer them as a
group by Monday 1700. Provide brief but at the same time thorough response.
