SENSOR
A Sensor is a device that receives and response to a signal.
A Sensors sensitivity indicates how much the sensors output changes when the measured
quantity changes.
Example :You can say that our skin ,ears ,eyes and noise are also a sensor because they can
sense touch , heat, light, noise and smell.
For accuracy , most of the sensors are calibrated against some known standards..
Types of sensors
USES
Sensors are used in daily every day objects such as touch sensitive elevator and lamps which
dim or brighten by touching the base.
There are innumerable applications of this technology of which most of the people are not
aware.
It applications include cars, machines, aerospace ,medicines ,manfracturing and robotics
Sensor taps
Automatic Sensor is easy
to install and is simple to
use as well.
As you place your hand
under the opening of the
tap, the water will flow
automatically and when
we remove ur hand the
water flow will stop.
This happens due to inbuilt
of sensors in the tap
AUTOMATIC STAIRS
Its starts running and stops automatically as it
senses the presence or absence of the person.
Infrared sensors
THESE INFRARED SENSORS ARE USED IN
SMART DEVICES…
THESE INFRARED SENSORS ARE ALSO
USED IN HOTELS…
Photo electric
sensor
o These are used in street lights and
automatic stairs.
o The street lights automatically
turns on and off as
the
Sunrisers and sunsets
o This is implemented by using photo
electric effect .
o The street lights automatically
turns on and off on the basis of
darkness measured by a sensor
TOUCH SENSOR
Touch Sensor work similar to a
switch.
When they are subjected to
touch,pressure or force they get
activated and acts as a closed
switch..
When the pressure or contact is
removed they act as an open
switch..
Advantages of sensors
It avoids a lot of wiring
It can accommodate new devices at any time
It is flexible to go through physical partitions
It can accessed through a centralized monitor
Sensors such as PIR detectors are relatively cheap if using wired versions
