Internet Connection and Required Equipment Make sure you are taking this exam in a location with a stable Internet connection. To prevent connectivity issues, turn off other devices and applications that may be using the Internet (e.g., TV, Netflix, social media, etc.). This exam requires the use of the Respondus Lockdown browser and Respondus monitor. If you haven’t previously downloaded the lockdown browser, you will be prompted to do so before you start the quiz. Make sure you are using a device on which you have the ability to download software. I highly recommend that you install the lockdown browser before the exam, and do a test run using the Mock exam in the UM learn Assessments-Quizzes. Please take the mock exam on the same computer you will be using for the midterm exam. If you use a different computer, you will have to install the browser again. How to Access the online exam To access the midterm exam, please go to Quizzes under UM learn Assessments (where you will take the mock exam as well). The midterm exam is named FIN2200 D01 S21 Midterm Exam. You can only see the exam five minutes before the exam starts (@8:55 am). You won’t be able to start the exam until 9 am. You should be able to see the timer on top of the browser once you start the exam. The exam is set in a way which allows you to skip a question, work on the next one and then go back. When you are in the lockdown browser, you will not be able to go to any external website including the UM learn. Please Note: Your answers are saved does not mean they were submitted. You must click Submit. What to do if your UM Learn exam is interrupted? Don’t panic. As UM Learn auto-saves after each answer, most of your answers will be retained when you get back into your exam. The timer will stop counting and resume once you are back to the lockdown browser. If you are kicked out of the exam for some reason, or your computer froze and you have to reboot, log back into UM Learn and follow the same steps to get back to the quiz. This time, instead of a Start Quiz button, you should see Continue Quiz. If you are able to click it and get back into the quiz, you are all good. If you are unable to get back to your quiz, having any technical issues, or any question during the exam, contact your instructor immediately at (204)474-9480 or email: ying.zhang@umanitoba.ca. Please read the academic integrity part again carefully! Important! Thank you and Best of luck!
