Obviously, to do this activity your class will need to view the movie Monster House. 2. Your students will need a poster board or some form of paper as the presentational background. 3. Students are encouraged to add any enhancements to bring their poster to life (as shown in the image below.) Homemade moon v Homemade trees Homemade grass Homemade leaves Printed from home 5 Wake Up Sunshine (c) 2015 Directions Cut the dotted lines around the ‘Red Herring’ window so the window flap opens. Also, cut the dotted lines around the ‘Antagonist’ and ‘Motive’ window. The student’s answers should be placed behind the flaps of the windows. Cut the dotted lines to create the flaps, which become the house’s teeth. Label the outside of the flaps, as indicated on the master sheet. The answers go underneath the flaps. Also, cut the dotted lines on the chimney. On the outside of the chimney flaps label ‘Character’, ‘Setting’, and ‘Conflict’. On the inside, the students will label the exposition’s information. The climax is simply labeled next to the lightning bolt. Cut the dotted lines on the sidewalk. Then, have the students fill in the information requested on the master sheet on the inside flaps. Make sure the students label the outside of the flaps to indicate what will be seen when the flap is opened. 6 Wake Up Sunshine (c) 2015 Directions Before cutting out, have the students list five rising action events, within the clouds. Before cutting out, have the students list two falling action events and the resolution, within the cloud. Cut along the dotted lines of the mailbox, folding over on horizontal line. Personally, I like to give it as a pre and post test.
