The Nketoana municipality is a long serving municipality in the Thabo Mofutsenyane district, down

the Free State regions. It is serving for four small towns (Petrus Steyn, Reitz, Lendly and
Arlington). The municipality which provides water, electricity, roads, and water. Also, making sure
that the people are well provided and served, it is in a bad state currently.

It has been weeks heading to months without the people of the Nketoana getting their well and
served water. People started complaining that the water coming out from taps is brownish and
some people are getting ill. The water started off not being provided in daily mandate as usual,
some days not being provided at all. This made the community to be much worried because their
daily in-house chores and other water needed work to be put on hold, and their daily needs not
met.

The service of electricity to the community of the Nketoana had led the people being left in the dark
living phase. Electricity had to be cut out very often, because electrical cables being stolen it is
now a norm. The municipality doesn’t take any action into putting security measures into both
power stations, this making it easier chancers to steal those cables for their own living.
It had been long the community of the Nketoana municipality complaing about roads that are full of
potholes and old. Traveler’s from the community and the municipality at large have been
complaining that their cars had to be serviced every month because of potholed roads and old. As
for school children going to school by foot on a rainy day, it’s a messy day for them.
The municipality had said the all the above matters will be resolved any time soon, till now
everything is getting worse every day. “We have heard all the cries and complaints from the
community and will all be served in due time”, said the spokesperson of the Nketoana municipality.
