Restrictions/Requirements
Continuous travel is authorized 24 hours a day, seven days a week. BE AWARE: Vehicles/loads that exceed 10' in width must abide by Metropolitan
Curfew times if traveling in the areas of Phoenix and Tucson. See R17−6−404 for curfew prohibited areas and times.
All loads over 8'6" in width are required to have red or fluorescent orange flags on all four corners at the widest points of the load/vehicle per R17−6−302.
All loads over 8'11" wide must utilize Oversize load signs, front and rear per R17−6−303.
FRONT AND REAR ESCORTS AND/OR LAW ENFORCEMENT ESCORTS MAY BE REQUIRED IN SPECIFIED AREAS OF ROUTE IN ACCORDANCE
WITH R17−6−412, TABLE 4. TRANSPORTER IS REQUIRED TO FOLLOW TABLE 4. ESCORTS MUST BE CERTIFIED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARS

ADOT PERMIT IS VALID FOR ARIZONA STATE CONTROLLED HIGHWAYS ONLY (US ROUTES, STATE ROUTES AND INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS).
TRAVEL ON LOCAL/COUNTY ROUTE IS NOT AUTHORIZED UNDER THE ADOT PERMIT. CONTACT THE COUNTY/LOCAL JURISDICTIONS FOR

Permit Invalid and Movement Prohibited if driver visibility range becomes less than 500 feet, road surface condition reduces normal traction or a load
destabilizing condition endangers load/vehicle stability. MOVEMENT IS PROHIBITED IF BLOWING DUST, SNOW, ICE or FLOODING is present on the
roadway. See R17−6−403 for additional weather related conditions and driver responsibilities.
MAXIMUM SPEED LIMIT FOR ALL OS/OW VEHICLE IS 55 MPH.

USE CAUTION WHEN GOING THRU CONSTRUCTION ZONES MAKING SURE TO NOTE HEIGHT/WIDTH RESTRICTIONS. OBEY ALL SIGNS &
MESSAGE BOARDS. (FINES DOUBLE IN WORK ZONES).
Escorts are required per EACH LOAD if listed as a requirement on the permit and must be certified in accordance with ARS 28−1110 and R17−6−305.
Each over−dimensional load must comply with R17−6−401 and maintain a minimum distance of 2000 feet when traveling on the same Interstate, in the
same direction except when passing. When traveling on secondary routes; each load must travel a duration of 15−30 minutes apart. NO CONVOYING
ALLOWED. For permits where no route is listed (multi trip permit types) the driver shall check WWW.AZDOT.GOV , click on the Commercial Vehicle
Permits button and proceed to Statewide Restrictions TABLE 4 to check if escorts are required by TABLE 4; Permittee must acquire escort services as
listed under Table 4 whether or not the requirement is listed on the permit.

LOADS THAT ARE AUTHORIZED TO TRAVEL BEFORE SUNRISE, AFTER SUNSET and DURING NIGHT MOVEMENT SHALL HAVE SUFFICIENT
LIGHTING TO RENDER VISIBILITY FROM LOAD TO OTHER MOTORISTS/VEHICLES AT A MINIMUM DISTANCE OF 500 FEET PER R17−6−304.
No alterations are allowed. The transported load must match the description on the permit. Permit remains valid if actual weight of a vehicle or vehicle
combination is equal to or less than the declared weight shown in the permit.
