How to Write a Good Thesis Statement
Where are you going?
Your thesis is like the destination you have chosen for a journey.
Your thesis statement is the following 3 things:

The thesis is the controlling idea or main point of your essay.
•
The thesis is what you will prove.
•
The thesis must be narrow or specific enough to prove; it must be manageable.
•
Lastly, your thesis statement will be the last sentence in your body paragraph.
Your thesis should have 3 parts:

A second example:
The Gold Rush of the 1800s had many negative and positive effects on California’s land, people, and
economics.
