What evidence is there that the difference in population size (between indigenous and Afro-Latinos) doesn’t matter with regard to gaining collective rights? Black people never more right than indigenous groups, they were able to do it this time because they were able to register as “autochthonous groups” giving them indigenous-like status and distinct cultural identity. 2. Is it true that indigenous movements have higher levels of organization than black movements? Is this a reason that they have fewer collective rights? Yes it’s true that indigenous movements have higher levels of organization than black movements and that is why they have won fewer collective rights 3. Complete an internet search about two of these terms: Quilombos, Garifuna, Cimarrones, Palenques (Remember that they all refer to escaped enslaved people). Write a short summary of what you learned. I learned that even though they escaped horrible conditions, they weren’t welcomed in with open hands Quilombos and Garifuna have to fight for a secure safe place and did agricultural work to sustain themselves.
