USER MANUAL UNITOR IMMERSION SUIT 7P OPTIMISING PERFORMANCE Quality ensurance Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) recommend a monthly visual inspection and a yearly inspection of all suits by using the portable test kit to observe any defects or quantity or functional noncompliance. These best practices will ensure product quality is maintained and product is fit for use when needed in case of emergency. Visual inspection 1.Check the condition of the bag for damage, dirt or unreadable instructions, check if the description outside complies with the size and suit type inside. 2.Take out the suit from the bag and place it on a flat clean table, make sure the suit is dry both from inside and outside. 3.Check for missing parts such as whistle, snap hook, buddy line, wax for zipper, emergency light (only for pillow type 7P version), and replace if necessary only with original parts from manufacturer. Visually check the suit inside and outside for damages, damages as punctures, tears, ripped neoprene – if found please return this for service to your local WSS service station at your nearest opportunity 4.Check the watertight metal zipper for damage. Remove all dirt or debris from the zipper. Use the wax stick provided to lubricate the zipper for smooth operation 5.Check the connection joints of the buoyancy pillow to the suit and also leg fastener straps, if founds damaged please return this for service to your local WSS service station at your nearest opportunity On board pressure test Introduction This device is used for air tightness / pressure testing & inspection for immersion suit to check for leakages. Product structure as follow: Plastic box Stable and pressing boards Charging hose & ball valve assembly 0 ~ 4KPa pressure gauge assembly Repair kit 1pc glue 1pc brush 1pc wax 1pc operating instruction manual 5pcs CR repair pieces 1pc big spare piece for stable board 2pcs small spare piece for pressing board Soapy water test method 1.Zip the suit fully and put it on clean and flat surface / table with its face upwards. Ensure the flat surface is clear of any debris and sharp objects as they will damage the suit 2.Insert the stable board into the head and make sure the quick connector and threaded port are free to access from the face. 3.Secure the pressing board on the stable board by wing nuts and make sure all face neoprene material around the face is fully pressed by pressing board with no gaps. 4.Insert the pressure gauge assembly and charging hose & ball valve assembly into the quick connector of pressing board, connect another side of charging hose with air supply. 5.Open the ball valve slowly and watch the pressure gauge, raise pressure slowly and close the ball valve when the pressure approaches 1.0 to 1.4 Kpa, then keep the pressure stable. 6.Cover each seams or closures of the suit with soapy water, if leaks are revealed by the formation of the soap air bubbles, the leak areas should be marked for repairing. 7.After inspection, close the ball valve, pull out the quick connector of pressure gauge and charging hose from pressing board, loose the nuts, take out the pressing board, open the zipper, and take out the stable board. Please note: Hold the quick connector of pressure gauge and charging hose by forefinger and thumb, push the connector inside first then you can pull them out from the pressing board. Release the air pressure slowly in the suit and then hang the suit to dry. 8.Wash all tested suits according to the washing mark, avoid dry cleaning or chemicals for cleaning the suit as the lining may come off if using the wrong solvents for cleaning, dry it naturally but not in heavy sunshine or in the proximity of heaters or UV supplying machines. Hang it for drying on a wide stable garment hanger if available. Repair It is recommended that the suit be sent for inspection to your local WSS service station for checking if the suit has been repaired on board. The repair kit is supplied with the portable test kit so that suit can be made functional and can be used in case of emergency. In order to be sure that the suit retains its functional performance after on board emergency repair, please get the suit inspected by your local WSS service station. 1.Repair the leakage suit after dry, please use the spare repair pieces for repair. 2.Spread the glue twice evenly on the leak area of the internal of immersion suit over 25mm extended from the leak point in all directions, then cut a suitable patch with 5mm less than the area spread on the suit in all directions and spread the glue twice evenly on the patch, under normal temperature and normal humidity, the interval between the two spreading is about 4 to 5 mins. 3.Stick the patch onto the leak area after 4 to 5mins and press them by the roller carefully. 3.Stick the patch onto the leak area after 4 to 5mins and press them by the roller carefully. 4.Do the water tightness test again. 5.Check all reflective tape is in place and glued tightly, they may damage after testing use or long time storage, in this case we recommend repair or renew by service station for best adhesion. 6.Switch light on and off and check the validity of the light. If the light is expired change it to a new one. 7.Check that the whistle is in place and working properly. 8.If the suit is dirty, wash it according to the wash mark, avoid dry cleaning or chemicals for cleaning the suit as the lining may come off if using the wrong solvents for cleaning, dry it naturally but not in heavy sunshine or in the proximity of heaters or UV supplying machines. Hang it for drying on a wide stable garment hanger until it is really dry. 9.Lubricate the front and back of the zipper with the wax and slide it up and down twice. Do not use any oils which may contain acid and damage the zipper after a while. Packing After the checking procedure, lay the suit on a flat clean table, rolling starts from the legs, arms are crossed over the breast, left the lifting belt and also the metal zipper in open position. Emergency light fitting Emergency light product number 777423. 1. Confirm the right product. 2.Test the light is functioning properly by switching it on and then switching it off after 10 seconds. Press the manual test button both for switching ON and OFF the light. 3.Insert the securing clip of the emergency light into the emergency light securing webbing / loop located on the left side chest on the immersion suit. 4.Insert the emergency light into the securing clip completely until you hear click sounds. Donning Time is a valuable asset in emergency cases, we recommend practicing the donning of suits regularly for all crewmembers. To avoid damage of suits during training, we recommend having dedicated training suits on board. Step in the suit with legs first, no need to remove shoes or clothing. Don lower body part. Tighten the strap around the ankle. Insert both arms first. Put on the hood, fully close the zip, and squat to remove excess air. Close face flap and prepare to jump in water feet first. When you are in the water Swim if possible always on the back. Only for reaching life rafts or other objects turn yourself.
