AOK Round-About: Natural Sciences & Mathematics Each round of the AOK study will consist of the following parts: 1. A collaborative study of one section of the knowledge framework for one of two given AOKs—Scope, Perspectives, Methods and Tools, and Ethics 2. A 25-30 minute product that will pass your knowledge along to your classmates. 3. An individual 1-page sketchnote showing what you've learned from other teams in the class. How it will work: For each round, you will teach a specific component of the AOK framework You will have one full class meeting to work with your team. This may not be enough time to complete the study and plan your product. You'll have to decide as a team who will do what outside of class time. Formative Assessment You will be graded as follows: 1. AOK Exhibition 0 checkmarks 0 1-3 checkmarks 6 4-5 checkmarks 8 6-7 checkmarks 10 🗹 Engaging. Classmates & Teacher are drawn in to the exhibition from the start and attention does not waver throughout 🗹 Multimodal. 3+ mediums are used to support engagement 🗹 Live. Exhibition is not pre-recorded though may include some video footage 🗹 Organized. Exhibition is organized in a coherent manner. Transitions between mediums are smooth and planned. There are no awkward silences amongst team members 🗹 Time Efficient. Exhibition time is closer to 25 minutes, maximum 30. Exhibition is not repetitive in its content. Engagement is linked to effective use of time 🗹 Personal Knowledge. Team members demonstrate expert knowledge on the aspect of the framework 🗹 Shared Knowledge. Through the engaging exhibition, classmates learn something new or a new way to understand the aspect of the AoK 2. Sketchnote will focus on evaluating your engagement & the content recorded. Formative (check for understanding/engagement) - TOTAL OF 8 SKETCHNOTES (0-5 )DESIGN // The sketchnote is legible and clear (0-5) KNOWLEDGE // Notes reflect full engagement with AOK exhibitions (crash course of Knowledge Framework) Summative Assessment Part 1. sketchnote combining both Mathematics and Natural Sciences as well as the 4 parts of the knowledge framework for each (venn diagram type) Part 2. Written Response. 1. Respond to the Prescribed TItle in a claim-counterclaim format of 600 words MAX Summative Sketchnote (end of unit) - ONE FINAL REVISED SKETCHNOTE (40% OF OVERALL GRADE) (0-2) DESIGN // The sketchnote is legible and clear (0-4) KNOWLEDGE // Notes reflect full engagement with AOK exhibitions (crash course of Knowledge Framework) (0-4) SYNTHESIS// Skechnote synthesizes concepts and similarities and differences from both AOKs in a balanced manner. CLAIM//COUNTERCLAIM (PT EXPLORATION) WILL BE ASSESSED USING THE TOK ESSAY ASSESSMENT TOOL (60% OF OVERALL GRADE) Level 5 9-10 Understanding AoKs Some possible characteristics Level 4 7-8 Level 3 5-6 Level 2 3-4 Level 1 1-2 The discussion has a sustained focus on the title and is linked effectively to Math & Natural Science. Arguments are clear, coherent and effectively supported by specific examples. The discussion is focused on the title and is linked effectively to Math & Natural Science. Arguments are clear, coherent and supported by examples. The discussion is focused on the title and is developed with some links to Math & Natural Science. Arguments are offered and are supported by examples. The discussion is connected to the title and makes superficial or limited links to Math & Natural Science. The discussion is largely descriptive. Limited arguments are offered but they are unclear and are not supported by effective examples. The discussion is weakly connected to the title. While there may be links to Math & Natural Science, any relevant points are descriptive or consist only of unsupported assertions.
