Polytechnic University of the Philippines The Passionate Shepherd to His Love The writer want to convince his love saying to live with me, be my love and we will experience all the pleasure. He want show to his lover that the countryside is beautiful and relaxing. It is calm and peaceful which is very good for them to live. He described some of beautiful things and give lot of information to persuade his lover. The Nymph’s Reply to the Shepherd The Nymph’s idea to the lover’s action was she’s being persuade by the pleasures of the world. When she told the lover about the reality of changes, she also want to tell him that she was not agree about his unrealistic promises. All the gifts the shepherd offered are just temporary according to the Nymph’s reply. She believes that nothing on earth is permanent. How Do I Love Thee? (Sonnet 43) This poem express how intense the love is to everyone. She want to tell him how much she love him but she can’t explain her feelings and deep love for him. She described love as spiritual, sacred and precious. She compare her love to good deeds and spiritual living. She want to express that her love will remain the same no matter what happen. Tonight I Can Write (The Saddest Lines) The poem showed how the writer illustrate the broken relationship. He remembering and recalling the memories they made. Through these memories he wrote the saddest line. He compare his feelings like a wind and darkness. His deepest sadness reflect through describing the natural happenings in the surroundings. Most of line indicates that he is the one who is responsible for the broken love. His lack of affection and interest created the situation. Annabel Lee The poem illustrated that Anabelle Lee was dead. It was written that there is a tomb or grave where she is staying because that is where the speaker buried her. Also I consider something wrong about the narrator’s mental health. Blaming the angel for taking the life of Annabel lee shows how mud the speaker is. Ballad of the Lonely Masturbator The poem illustrated that the writer reason why she wrote this is because of her issue with her husband. Her loneliness lead her to the situation which the title pertaining about.
