Types of Observations – Year 7 Qualitative Observations: are a written description in words only. Would be things like: The noise a bird makes The taste of ice cream The colour of someone’s hair The fact that bubbles appear when you open a bottle of soft drink. The roughness of a surface Quantitative Observations: are observations that involve measurements and are stated as numbers. For example: Room temperature is 25°C The time is 10.30am The volume of a can of coke is 375mL. 1.
