Reconstitute vial content with the required quantity of sterile diluent. The calculated dose should then be removed and added to any appropriate intravenous solution (5% Dextrose, 0.9% Sodium Chloride, 5% Dextrose/0.9% Sodium Chloride, 5% Dextrose/0.2% Sodium Chloride, Ringers and Lactated Ringers Injection) at a volume selected for administration during each 1hour infusion. Infusion concentrations of approximately 7 mg/mL or lower are recommended. Higher concentrations (e.g., 10 mg/mL) may produce phlebitis or inflammation at the injection site upon inadvertent extravasation. Storage: The reconstituted solution should be used within 12 hours. Once diluted for administration, each dose should be used within 24 hours. Refrigeration of reconstituted solutions may result in formation of a precipitate which will re dissolve at room temperature. Parenteral drug products should be inspected visually for particulate matter and discoloration prior to administration, whenever solution and container permit. Caution : RAPID OR BOLUS INTRAVENOUS INJECTION MUST BE AVOIDED INTRAMUSCULAR OR SUBCUTANEOUS INJECTION MUST BE AVOIDED THE CONTENTS OF THE VIAL SHOULD BE DISSOLVED IN STERILE WATER FOR INJECTION OR 0.9% SODIUM CHLORIDE AS FOLLOWS. SHAKE THE VIAL WELL TO ASSURE COMPLETE DISSOLUTION BEFORE MEASURING AND TRANSFERRING EACH INDIVIDUAL DOSE. DO NOT USE BACTERIOSTATIC WATER FOR INJECTION CONTAINING BENZYL ALCOHOL OR PARABENS. ACYCLOVIR SODIUM STERILE POWDER FOR SOLUTION FOR INJECTION MUST BE DILUTED PRIOR TO ADMINISTRATION. WHEN ADMINISTERING ACYCLOVIR SODIUM FOR SOLUTION FOR INJECTION, (OR ANY POTENT MEDICATION) BY CONTINUOUS INTRAVENOUS INFUSION, IT IS ADVISABLE TO USE A PRECISION VOLUME CONTROL IV SET.
