Name of Organisation: ………………………..…………………………………………….
Name of Service Provider: ……………………………………………………………….
Introduction
The purpose of this appointment is to ensure that funding received from the Technical
Assistance fund is used appropriately used for training management and staff in our
organisation to improve the capacity of managers to be more technically skilled, training and
assistance in developing business planning and supply chains.
Due to the nature of the world cocoa market, our ability to add value to the bean has been
lacking. We have recently been approached by several organisations in Europe and America
to provide quality cocoa butter, powder and liquor to enable them to market a “made in
Africa” product in food and cosmetics.
The Technical Assistance Fund (TAF) is to support producer organisations with the long-term
aim of improving their access to markets. This will be done by providing finance for technical
support to assist producer organisations (i) in developing their businesses and (ii) in
improving their compliance with FLO standards. The aim of the TAF is to finance training or
capacity building in the following areas:
i.
Improving capacity of senior managers to manage more effectively, training and
assistance in developing business planning and financial management, supply chain
management, environmental management.
ii.
Strengthening internal systems (including database management) and institutional
structures (including governance issues) of producer organisations.
Objectives of the training
The main objective of this training is to ensure that a strong training package is delivered to
managers and staff to equip them in the knowledge of high quality cocoa processing into the
various components and to use training methods that will allow that recipients to then pass
knowledge gained to other managers and staff within the cooperative.
At the end of the training, the trainer will write a training manual for the cooperative in order
that members of the cooperative to can use it as reference.
Training needed
The training we need will enable us to improve capacity of managers to manage more
effectively, training and assistance in developing business planning. In order to take
advantage of these opportunities our organisation secured funding in order to enable us to
acquire and develop the skills within our organisation in order for us to take advantage of se
opportunities.
We are therefore seeking to appoint a service provider who would be able to train 2 technical
managers and 8 technical officers (4 women technical officers) in cocoa processing at the
highest quality.
Once this training has taken, our expectation would be that these trainees will then be able to
commence a TOT programme to ensure knowledge is filtered down to the entire
organisation. We therefore request that the service provider use this method when training
the initial 10 candidates.
