I. EXPENSES: Congratulations! You are now out on your own. You now have to take care of your
own finances. The first step, which we will do today, is to determine your spending habits.
In the first column, write down the items you buy during the course of one month. Include fees for
services such as phone and internet. Include these even if in reality your parents pay for them.
In the second column, write down how many times you buy these things. In the third column,
write down the prices. The fourth column is for the subtotals for each of these items.
Then at the bottom total your expenses for the month. Remember, this is for you on your own, so
include all the things that your parents normally would buy for you.

II: INCOME: For this portion we will assume that you have a part-time job earning $9.50 per hour.
Calculate how many complete hours you would need to work to cover all these expenses by
dividing your total by 9.5. _________________________________________________________
Now divide that by four to find out how many hours per week you will need to work. _________
