Frequent traveler, projects across the globe
Medical history : Hypertensive ( ramipril 5 mg daily ), no known allergies
GERD , managed by Over -the-counter drugs
March 21, 2020 : Reached Melbourne after visit to Italy. Screened and temperature checked
at airport .Findings unremarkable.
Advice : Strict isolation at home. District Health Nurse to be contact in case of any
symptoms. Emergency number given.
March 23, 2020 :Felt bored and lethargic, no other symptoms
March 25, 2020 : Slightly sore throat , mild fever – took paracetamol
March 26 , 2020 : fever did not subside , sore throat worsened , myalgia
Contacted district health nurse. Transported via ambulance to Prince Charles hospital ,
Melbourne and admitted to isolation ward.
Temperature : 38°C
Throat swab taken , sample sent for SARS- CoV-2 PCR.
Patient started on analgesics and antibiotics.

Assessment : Bilateral pneumonia
PCR test – positive
Diagnosis : Covid 19 with Bilateral lobar pneumonia
Management Plan :
Negative pressure room
Ventilator support
To start Hydroxychloroquine for the patient as treatment and consider chemoprophylaxis
for family
Notify the health authorities and primary contacts of the patient and screening of the
contacts
Transfer to higher centre if needed
