STUDY NOTEBOOK LEARNING DELIVERY MODALITIES COURSE 2 MODULE 1: COURSE ORIENTATION MODULE OBJECTIVE: By the end of this Module, you will be able to describe what this course is about and how it will help you manage the teaching-learning process in the modalities. MODULE CONTENT: Lesson 1: Course Overview Lesson 2: Organizing your Learning Action Cell (LAC) LAC Session 1 ` Module 1 Lesson 1 (Course Orientation) Activity 1 1. What is the Main delivery of this course? Answer: The Learning Delivery Modalities Course 2 is a course is intended for teachers and is focused on the instructional implications of using these alternative LDMs. This is a task-oriented course that combines guided study using self-learning modules and colearning and collaboration through the Learning Action Cell (LAC). The delivery of this course is an urgent action of Deped to this ongoing pandemic as also part of DepEd Learning Continuity Plan. The main objective of this course is to deliver education to learners in this new normal setting by using Self Learning Modules prepared by selected teachers which are designed for self-study. 2. How can this course help ensure that you will be able to deliver quality instruction in the new normal? Answer: In the current situation of our country due to the pandemic, our educational system is doing its best to provide alternative ways for learners to access quality education, this course is designed for self-study, without a trainer or instructor to assist you. Each module consists of several lessons that are self-contained and include readings or video tutorials, activities, quizzes, and reflection points. This can be of great help for the teachers to ensure the delivery of quality instruction and it helps them prepare for this distant learning in this new normal situation. Teachers can gain knowledge, skills and mindset that are necessary in this new teaching and learning way. 3. What are the two support mechanisms that will help you with your learning in this course? Answer: The support mechanisms that will surely help me in learning this course are as follow: 1. My prior knowledge gained from the webinars/trainings I attended that are all connected to this course. 2. The expertise of the LAC sessions’ facilitators together with the collaborations of our teaching force in giving insights, enlightenments, and support to each other in learning each module of this course. Activity 2 Answer the following questions by copying and filling out the table in your Study Notebook. 1. How will my personal characteristics and circumstances affect (positively or negatively) my participation in this course? 2. How can I ensure that I am able to sustain my strengths and address the obstacles that will hinder me from completing this course? Answer HABITS (What is it that I repeatedly do that may affect my participation in the course in a positive or negative way?) OBSTACLES (What will prevent me from participating fully in this course?) MOTIVATION (What will push me to participate in this course?) ENVIRONMENT (Where will I accomplish the requirements of this course? Describe this environment.) I always do advance reading on every lessons given to me ahead of time and I am very willing to search for answers and solutions to every problems I may encounter. This for me is somehow positive that may result in providing better outputs. The preparations for the opening of classes are, the queries from local government, barangay officials and parents through phone calls/SMS/messenger, and other tasks being given simultaneously from different offices. Not to mention the poor internet connection since this course can be taken online browser. I am very much motivated because I am looking forward for the benefit of the learners. Seeing them confined in their homes and learning less to nothing makes me bothered. Amidst this pandemic, I guess the least we can do is to provide them with the best resources we can give them in order for them continue their dreams of becoming someone useful and efficient someday. Since we are doing the LAC sessions either face-to-face due to poor internet connection or virtually (when internet connection is right,) I will have to accomplish the requirements of this course from my home. Rest assured that I keep constant communication with my colleagues in getting their insights and support for better understanding of this course. Activity 3 Look for a colleague with whom you would like to discuss your answers and reflections with to the questions in Activities 1 and 2. LESSON 2: ORGANIZING YOUR LEARNING ACTION CELL (LAC) ACTIVITY 1 Begin by refreshing your memory on the Learning Action Cell. Read DepEd Order No. 35 s. 2016 titled “The Learning Action Cell as the K to 12 Basic Education Program School Based Continuing Professional Development Strategy for the Improvement of Teaching and Learning.” Once you’re done, answer the following questions. Write your responses and any other ideas and reflections in your Study Notebook. 1. Reflect on the objectives for conducting LAC sessions as listed in DO 35, s. 2016. Rank the ollowing objectives from easiest to the most difficult to achieve: __2__ To improve the teaching-learning process to improve learning among students __4__ To nurture successful teachers __1__ To enable teachers to support each other to continuously improve their content and pedagogical knowledge, practice, skills, and attitudes __3__ To foster a professional collaborative spirit among School Heads, teachers, and the community as a whole. 2. What are the top three challenges to having a successful LAC? List down and elaborate? Answer: 1. Proper Schedule of LAC – The best schedule of the LAC session must not conflict with other pasks and schedules of teachers. Often times, teachers are attending 2 or more trainings all at the same time resulting to give less focus to the LAC session. 2. Relevance of the Topics - To ensure that teachers are gaining knowledge and skills that are useful to the current situation and even in the future, the topics in the LAC sessions should be relevant, timely, and beneficial to both parties concerned especially in this pandemic that we are facing right now. 3. Stable internet connection - Many of us are leveraging the power of modern technology in conducting LAC sessions, it will be best if we can find a place with stable internet connection. ACTIVITY 2 According to DO 35, s. 2016, a LAC should have no less than 2 but not more than 15 members each. Get in touch with your designated Coach or LAC Leader in forming your LACs. See LDM Module 1 – page 5 ACTIVITY 3 List down the members of your LAC and their respective roles in your Study Notebook. List of LAC members and their roles. 1. Rene Q.
