A message to my 31 year old self Dear Future self, I see you laughing and having a wonderful life. I sometimes see you looking at me, the younger version of you, and you’re so proud of me for learning these lessons, for rolling up my sleeves and working to become a better me. I can’t wait to meet you because I have a lot to ask about you, Future me. What’s your job? You’ve been struggling to find your real passions for years! Where do you live? Did you choose to leave Romania? Did you make new friends? Are you still in touch with my best friends? How are mom and dad? You should probably call them. I’m doing really well. I’m working a lot to become the person that you are. I participated in simulations of NATO and MUN Conferences and I became the President of the Students’ Council. I’m involved in a lot of competitions and I just started to learn German. I’m a volunteer and teach kindergarten kids English. Right now, I don’t really have any fears to note, except the choices related to university I’ll have to make in a year or two. I’m a great debater of our high school club and I love writing, so I think I’ll choose something related to diplomacy, law and journalism. I really hope you’ve written a novel until now because I can’t wait to see its cover! Also, you’re probably able to fluently speak German now, which makes me envy you. And I’m more than sure you’ve seen Ed Sheeran in concert. For me, it’s still just a dream. I hope you’re still hardworking and fighting for your dreams and points of view. On the other hand, I expect you understood the importance of speaking less and listening more. This doesn’t mean you have to change the fact that you’re confident. Never change that! Right now, society is facing a lot of problems, but I’m sure we can deal with them, I still have faith in humanity. You also do, right? I believe that in 15 years’ time, things will get better, at least from some points of view. In the end, Future self, don’t forget to involve yourself as much as you can. Age isn’t an obstacle. You’re still young though. Don’t worry so much about life, just live it! Also, don’t forget to call your parents from time to time. I can’t wait to know you better! Love, your younger self
