Practices 1-3
6:00 – 6:10 Warm Up
1. Jog to center/ everyone lineup on left field foul line (Dynamic Movement Stretch )
a. Walk pull knees to chest 10 ft
b. Lunge with a twist each direction 10 ft
c. Pull heel to butt reach out with hand 10 ft
d. Side lunge - there and back 10 ft
e. Punt kickers 10 ft
f. Foot out toe up, hamstring stretch 10 ft
g. High Knees – pump arms
h. Karaoke
i. Back Pedal
j. 2 secondary steals
k. 2 straight steals
6:10 – 6:25 Progressive Throwing Program
 (5ft) – Flip ball/ Finger Extension ( 4-seam, 2-seam, changeups) 2 mins
 (10ft) – Toes to target/ no lower half movement (Upper half seperation – Glove to heart) 2 mins
 (15ft) – Weight transfer / Front shoulder toward partner ( Lower half drive / Nose behind belly) 2-3
 (30-40 ft) – Step in front or behind and throw ( Down the tunnel think) 5 mins
 (90+) - Long Toss 3-5 mins
6:00 – 6:05 Objectives for Practice/ Past games positive and negative aspects
 Discuss what happened in last practice and what we hope to work on tonight. Give ownership.
6:05 – 6:30 Groundballs – Flyballs
 Half group at SS other at 2B. Two 1st baseman who alternate each throw – a player standing by coach at
home
o Hit grounders to kids – throw to 1st baseman – Coach rotates hitting fungo between SS and 2nd
 Flyballs (5-6 kids in center – 4-5 middle guys as a cut off man – 1 kid at home) coach hits or throws pop
up - kids hit cut off man and throw home rotate kids. (1st step back & turn shoulders)
6:30 – 6:50 Cutoffs and Relays – Situations
 Every player at a position - Hit to outfield and work on cut offs and relays. Players look to throw ball into
either SS or 2nd baseman. Talk about baserunners on base
o Hit to all spots while calling out where baserunners are. Situational baseball
o Disuss backing up and movement of players.
6:50 – 7:00 Baserunning (If time allows)
 Home to 1st
 Home to second
 Second to home
 Home to 3rd
