1. Đa số các động từ hai âm tiết có trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ hai
e.g. attract, begin, deny, forget, enjoy, pollute, …
Exceptions: answer, enter, happen, offer, open,…
2. Đa số các danh từ và tính từ hai âm tiết có trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ nhất
e.g. children, hobby, habit, labour, trouble, …
basic, busy, handsome, lucky, pretty, …
Exceptions: advice, reply, machine, mistake, …
alone, amazed, abrupt, absorbed, …
3. Một số từ có hai âm tiết vừa là danh từ vừa là động từ. Khi là danh từ trọng âm rơi vào
âm tiết thứ nhất, khi là động từ trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết thứ hai.
