Romelo Lukaku equalled the record-breaking Belgium goalscoring record set by Bernard Voorhoof and Paul van Himst in the wake of scoring twice against Mexico in a 3–3 draw. Four days after he equalled the record, Lukaku turned into Belgium's unsurpassed record goalscorer with 31 global objectives at 24 years old after he scored the lone objective in a 1–0 win over Japan.Although this record was tallied by the Royal Belgian Football Association, FIFA just authoritatively perceived 28 objectives after an invalidated worldwide cordial match against Luxembourg on 26 May 2014 which he got a cap stunt in a 5–1 win on the grounds that the previous Belgium mentor, Marc Wilmots made seven replacements during the match rather than the allowed six which are not in understanding to the Laws of the Game.
